Position Title: Young Adult Liaison
Reports to: Community Shaliach, Zionist Federation of New Zealand
General Statement of Duties
The worker will bring the energy, enthusiasm and creativity of the WZO Department for Diaspora Activities, adapted to the emphasis and general framework set by the Zionist federation of New Zealand, to the Wellington young adult community.
The worker will be in charge of developing a dynamic and effective range of activities, while cooperating with other relevant local young adult organizations, thus reaching out to and creating an impact on as many young adults possible of the Wellington Jewish Community of New Zealand
Desired Skills and Attributes
- Identification with the aims of the Zionist Movement and commitment to the principles of Zionism.
- Good background in issues relating to Jewish Identity and Israel.
- Familiarity with the Wellington Jewish Community.
- Ability to plan and manage events including budget and financial administration.
- Organizational skills including effective office administration.
- Ability to recruit volunteers and work together with them.
- Good interpersonal skills, verbal and written communication.
- Marketing and public relations skills.
- Ability to work both individually and in a team.
- Experience working/engaging in a Zionist organization, youth movement or campus activity – an advantage.
- Past participation in an Israel program – an advantage
- Knowledge of Hebrew – an advantage.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work together with the Zionist Federation of New Zealand, the Department for Diaspora Activities shlicha and the NZ community Shlicha in the planning and implementation of innovative and engaging programming for the Hagshama target demographic (young adults aged 18-39);
- assist the Zionist Federation of New Zealand in maintaining a warm relationship between the local Jewish community and the State of Israel, via periodic events, campaigns and federal projects for young adults;
- Take a leading role in the promotion of all events as well promoting Hagshama as a brand;
- Plan and execute at least one ongoing and another special event per month;
- Create niche frameworks for young adults to engage with Israel, the Jewish community and each other.
- Manage the local Hagshama database, facebook page and administration.
Reporting and Accountability
- The coordinator will work under and is accountable for the community shlichia of the Zionist Federation of NZ Osnat Dvorkin and the WZO Shlicha Mirit Frenkel,
- The coordinator will submit monthly activity and budget reports to the WZO Shlicha Mirit Frenkel and Cced to the community Shlicha of the Zionist Federation of NZ Osnat Dvorkin.
Hours of work
This is a 3hr p/w position.
Work schedule flexible
Please note that this position includes evening and weekend work.
Appointment
This is a 12 month appointment, with the possibility of extension.
